Meet the Brand
Dyan Reeves founded Cultural Detour in 2013, after falling in love with kimono while growing up on Okinawa. Working out of her downtown San Antonio studio, she carefully deconstructs antique and vintage kimono — by hand, stitch by stitch — and transforms them into modern, wearable pieces meant to be treasured for generations. Each collection is limited and intentional, rooted in the Japanese idea of mottainai: to waste nothing. It's slow fashion with a story sewn into every seam.

The Vibe
Soulful, colorful, and full of story. We're capturing a maker at home among her treasures: sunlit studio light, flowing silk, bold vintage patterns, and the quiet focus of handwork. The feel is eclectic but grounded, modern and rooted in tradition, with every fabric, tool, and finished piece carrying a history worth showing. Warm, natural, and unhurried, so the images feel as personal as the pieces she makes.
